Iarnród Éireann
Iarnród Éireann is Ireland’s national rail operator and infrastructure manager, providing passenger and freight rail services, as well as operating Rosslare Europort.
The company operates Intercity, DART and Commuter services and jointly operates the Dublin to Belfast Enterprise service with Translink.
Increased rail capacity is planned to meet growing customer demand with a record 50.1 million passenger journeys in 2019. An order for 41 new carriages, arriving from late 2021, has been made, and DART Expansion will see infrastructure investment and the purchase of up to 600 new electric/hybrid carriages to double the capacity of the Greater Dublin Area network.
Each day, over 3,800 colleagues work together to deliver a safe, customer-focused and sustainable service to customers. Rail transport will be central to reducing carbon emissions from Ireland’s transport sector, and the company’s sustainability initiatives include engaging with customers and employees on mental health awareness, supporting biodiversity on rail corridors, and promoting a culture of diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
