Accelerate, The Business Pact for Climate and Nature
For 25 years, BITCI has guided business leaders through the evolving EESG landscape upskilling, challenging and inspiring their ambition to create sustainable businesses. As part of this, our latest collective action campaign is Accelerate: The Business Pact for Climate and Nature.
This initiative builds on our Low Carbon Pledge, and will help businesses to develop Climate Transition Plans that align with net-zero goals. These Plans adopt a wide lens by focusing on action in nine key leverage areas: Nature, Scope 3, Just Transition, Decarbonisation, Targets, Finance, Advocacy, Risk and Governance. with a focus on Nature, Scope 3 emissions, and Just Transition.
Accelerate aims to build a Centre of Excellence on Climate Transition Plans, facilitating an ambitious business community of practice to drive a net-zero, nature-positive future and contribute to the achievement of national, regional, and international policy objectives.
We invite businesses to join us in this effort—develop a plan, set a net-zero target, disclose your progress, and become leaders in climate action.
Our commitment to you:
- Deliver capacity building interventions designed to help address common challenges.
- Assess your Climate Transition Plan annually, and benchmark your Plan against the collective across the nine Accelerator Areas.
- Deliver Knowledges Sessions on key net-zero, nature-positive topics.
- Organise Peer Circles and collective action projects.
- Gather your insights on challenges and opportunities for business, and reflect this to government.
- Consistently challenge you to go beyond compliance.
- Give access to a regularly updated suite of resources and templates.
Signatories commit to:
- Develop your Climate Transition Plan ASAP and no later than 2030 (or as early as required per CSRD).
- Set your Net Zero target by 2050 ASAP and no later than 2030 (unless this is not possible for your sector as per current SBTi guidelines).
- Engage with the Accelerate Community of Practice.
- Complete an annual qualitative survey for Insights Paper.
- Increase ambition on the climate and nature agenda and move up to the next Accelerator Level.
- Collaborate with fellow signatories to learn and create solutions for fast and fair climate and nature impact.
