Sustainability Strategy

Sustainability and all its facets across the Economic, Environmental, Social and Governance lens is core to business strategy and aligns with the corporate strategy planning cycle. For sustainable business outcomes this strategy must be driven by the senior leadership team, assigned sufficient resources, anchored with stakeholders and engaging for employees.

Embedding Sustainability

BITCI works with members at all stages of embedding sustainability into core business. For some, this means starting with a programmatic approach to aligning and unifying the various aspects of sustainability that may already exist in silos in the business. For other members, a review of existing strategy or development of new strategy may be required.

BITCI take a holistic EESG lens to review targets, identify what’s working, explore the blockers to success (this can be a mix of strategic, structural, or cultural issues) and suggest actions to implement. Best practice from our network and beyond is used in consultations.

BITCI work in an advisory and collaborative way, empowering members to adapt industry frameworks in assessing the market landscape and identifying strategic options and priorities in delivering sustainable business outcomes.

ESW

ESW

ESW joined BITCI when it identified the need to more formally embed sustainability in its business.

ESW is a wholly owned subsidiary of Asendia Group and provides the capability for the world’s biggest brands to sell internationally. Our mission quite simply is to facilitate worldwide ecommerce made powerful made simple.

The starting point for the ESW/BITCI engagement was a common agreement of the drivers for ensuring sustainability is at the heart of ESW business and seen to be so.

Following a series of interviews and workshops on strategic drivers for ESW, a co-creation approach was agreed for how ESW and BITCI would work together. An internal sustainability programme was established with a BITCI advisor on the steering group.

The first step for the programme was a Materiality Assessment where BITCI supported ESW on selecting stakeholders and topics. Insights from the assessment fed into the strategic direction for sustainability at ESW and a key action from the programme was the hiring of a Sustainability Officer for ESW in August 2022.

Regular monthly consultations were agreed between ESW’s Sustainability Officer and the BITCI advisor to identify where BITCI advisory services and programmes could support the implementation of ESW strategy. Discussions addressed community engagement, decarbonisation of supplier fleets and conscious consumption.

ESW has since become a signatory of the Elevate, Inclusive Workplace Pledge
