#ThinkLanguages and Business in the Community Ireland
#ThinkLanguages is an annual national event for Transition Year (TY) students which celebrates languages, cultures and diversity. The flagship event from Languages Connect has grown considerably since its inception in 2018 and strives to take languages out of the books and bring them to life in a fun, interactive and engaging way. It also shines a light on the many opportunities’ languages can provide for both personally and professionally.
Now in its sixth year, the school led event will take place from November 27th to December 1st this year with a hive of activity expected in schools across the country as they get involved in what has quickly become a highlight of the TY calendar – you can find out more about this year’s event at ThinkLanguages – Languages Connect
This year Business in the Community in Ireland (BITCI) is delighted to partner with #Thinklanguages and support this great initiative from Languages Connect and Post Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI).
With most people in other European countries having competency in two languages, skills in a foreign language can significantly improve career prospects for Irish students and give a distinct advantage in the evolving local and global economy. The sectors which favour foreign language skills continue to diversify and grow considerably, and this year we are supporting schools with their festivals of languages and culture by providing an insight into some of the businesses and careers in Ireland where languages have proven to be of huge benefit.
If your school is taking part in #ThinkLanguages this year, check out the activities on offer from some of our members during #Thinklanguages week – reach out and see how you can incorporate BITCI in your #ThinkLanguages festival line up!
Companies are supporting #ThinkLanguages week with careers talks at the following locations across Ireland. Please contact edteam@bitc.ie to enquire and register interest in an event.
