Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025. A great way to help us celebrate is if your company joins our movement for change. As leaders in sustainability and social inclusion, BITCI has supported our members to embed all aspects of sustainability, namely Economic, Environmental, Social and Governance (EESG), into their business models. Becoming a sustainable business is now imperative with investors, employees and communities evaluating businesses on their EESG criteria. Our network has now over 120 of Ireland’s top businesses spanning multiple sectors.

Our approach
Membership ensures companies adopt a more strategic approach to incorporating sustainability in business operations rather than pursuing a siloed piecemeal approach. The services we provide are customised to each member company’s needs and a dedicated Sustainability Advisor will both challenge and aid you as you progress on this journey. We believe collaboration is key to real progress on sustainability. Having a cross sectoral network of members lends itself to peer learning, upskilling and engagement. We offer our members access to a comprehensive calendar of webinars, events and networking opportunities. Our events and workshops guarantee practitioners learn and upskill together. The knowledge sharing sessions and peer circles are vital to our members’ progress, giving them an opportunity to share their success and challenges and hold each other accountable. We provide these forums to share ideas, initiatives and feedback to overcome challenges and celebrate progress.

Convening and uniting multisectoral businesses to drive collective action to achieve systemic change is what makes BITCI unique. Our collective action campaigns are designed to demonstrate leadership by building on progress to ensure ambitious company EESG goals become a reality.
The Business Working Responsibly Mark is Ireland’s leading standard for EESG. Third-party verified by the National Standards Authority of Ireland, it is the standard for sustainability that fosters a culture of continuous improvement, ongoing accountability, and leadership. Companies have been certifying to The Mark since 2010 in a desire to go beyond legal compliance and demonstrate leadership in sustainability.
Our Elevate, The Inclusive Workplace, Pledge and Accelerate, The Business Pact for Climate and Nature support signatories to be proactive in measuring data, setting targets and taking decisive action to create more inclusive workplaces and decarbonise their operations.
Our tools and resources
Being a member gives you access to sustainability management tools, including frameworks and leading benchmarks as well as best practices and latest research to guide senior leadership and operational teams to achieve high sustainability impacts. Our publications such as Sustainability Handbook and Sustainable Capabilities for Leaders are useful resources in developing a common understanding of the role of business in being more sustainable and identifying the skills and expertise required to achieve it.
Our Employment and Education programmes
We offer a range of impactful corporate volunteering opportunities that pair businesses with DEIS schools or vulnerable jobseekers. Our education programmes are guaranteed to help tackle educational disadvantage, raise career aspirations for pupils and enable the company and its staff be more connected with their local community. Through our employment programmes, companies advance their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives by supporting vulnerable jobseekers and availing of a pipeline of diverse talent.
