Innovate, Collaborate and Transform: BITCI’s Strategy for Impact 2025-2028
Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) which is marking its 25 anniversary in 2025, just unveiled its new strategic plan: Innovate, Collaborate and Transform: BITCI’s Strategy for Impact 2025-2028.
This transformational strategy aims for BITCI to expand its impact by redefining its business proposition, leading collective action campaigns and integrating sustainability and social inclusion by pursuing Just Transition principles.
Launched at BITCI’s member network meeting, Tomas Sercovich CEO said “Championing and supporting business to continue their sustainability journey is more important than ever. The geopolitical context is uncertain, and many current policies are scaling back on regulation or DE&I, yet the climate crises and societal divisions remain critically evident, so it is imperative business takes a long-term lens to their operations to guarantee growth and resilience. Through this strategy, BITCI will continue to set the agenda; we will innovate, unite and deliver a suite of offerings to ensure we remain relevant and current in meeting business needs. Our unique multisectoral membership and commitment to transition to a net zero, nature positive and inclusive society remains at our core.”
BITCI’s strategy is focused on achieving five Organisational Goals
Goal 1: Create compelling pathways for any business to thrive in a net zero economy and an inclusive society. BITCI will redefine its value proposition and ways of working with companies to reflect the changing needs of business.
Goal 2: Deliver a suite of offerings for SMEs addressing sustainability and social inclusion in value chains. Through collaboration with large businesses, state agencies and their SMEs, BITCI will build a suite of best-in-class interventions to enhance SME capacity and resilience.
Goal 3: Deliver Sustainability and Social Inclusion initiatives that are recognised as best-in-class by our stakeholders and partners. BITCI will continue to leverage our unique link with business, civil society and government to benchmark for excellence in our initiatives designed to create a more sustainable and inclusive society.
Goal 4: Launch a flagship innovation, founded in Just Transition principles that integrates environment and social impact. Innovation through partnership is vital to BITCI, this new initiative will emerge through collaboration and be guided by Just Transition principles that address the capacity of social and environmental systems to adapt to the challenges and opportunities of the future.
Goal 5: Position collective action as a critical driver for positive societal and environmental impact. BITCI understands and prioritises collective action as a powerful force for positive change and has led successful collective campaigns to date. During this strategy, BITCI will continue to drive systemic change through collective action by innovating, collaborating and scaling effective solutions with business, government and community.
Mr Sercovich added “We are proud of what BITCI has achieved in its first 25 years and are energised and committed to advancing all aspects of sustainability and social inclusion within our member companies and public policy. Failure to be ambitious and proactive now, despite of and because of multiple external political uncertainty, will result in further deterioration of our planet, its species and people’s quality of life. We look forward to leading and collaborating to achieve all aspects of our new strategic plan.”
BITCI will be marking its 25th anniversary in multiple ways including hosting a flagship international conference on 11th September in Croke Park, Dublin. This conference will examine our achievements to date, present solutions for current challenges and unite business leaders on pursuing a sustainability and social inclusion agenda.
