Kevin Thompson
Kevin Thompson joined as Chief Executive Officer of Intact Insurance (formerly Royal Sun Alliance (RSA) Insurance Ireland) in 2019. Intact Insurance is part of Intact Financial Corporation (IFC), the largest general insurer in Canada with additional operations in the US, UK, and Europe. He is also currently co-chair Capacity Building Working Group of the CBI Climate Risk and Sustainable Finance Forum (Climate Forum), and holds the following board positions outside of Intact Insurance: Insurance Ireland Member Association, Insurance Institute of Ireland.
Prior to joining Intact Insurance, Kevin spent seven years as CEO of Insurance Ireland and was also CEO of Alico Life International (part of the AIG group, with branches in Germany, Italy, and Spain). Kevin has held a Board position for Alico European Holding Limited and senior executive positions within Allianz Worldwide Care (Health Insurer), Citigroup and Lincoln Financial, working both in Ireland and the UK, with his career in Insurance starting in 1988.
Kevin is a Certified Insurance Director, holds an MSc (Distinction) in Management Practice (University College Cork), with a focus on Strategy & Transformation, and a Dip in Sports Psychology. Kevin has undergone executive training through the Allianz Management Institute via University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) & University St Gallen. Received Irish Management Institute annual Tony Dromgoole award for exam distinction & Insurance Institute of Ireland Record of Achievement Award.
Kevin is married to Liz and has two daughters Kate & Orla. He is chair of and coaches athletics at his local athletic club, Skerries AC, and has previously represented Ireland at U/23 & senior level at cross country & mountain running.
