The ecological, social and economic impacts of climate change are rapidly intensifying. Globally, 2023 was the hottest year on record and in Ireland, winter 2023-24 was one of the wettest ever. Under the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021, Ireland must reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 51% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
