P-TECH

In Ireland, P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) represents a pioneering approach to education, bridging the gap between academia and industry to prepare young people for the evolving demands of the workforce. This innovative programme launched in 2019 in collaboration with leading industry partners, P-TECH aims to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to thrive in the digital age.

At the heart of P-TECH lies the commitment to providing young people with industry led experiences throughout their post-primary experience and provide a challenging and structured work placement. These experiences are invaluable, as they offer students a first-hand glimpse into the professional world, allowing them to apply classroom learning to real-world scenarios. Through hands-on projects, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to industry best practices, students not only develop technical and professional skills but also cultivate essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

Partnering with the National College of Ireland (NCI), P-TECH integrates work experience into the L6 Certificate in P-TECH from NCI, enriching the educational journey of students. By immersing students in diverse work environments and exposing them to various industry sectors, P-TECH opens doors to a world of possibilities, igniting passion and curiosity in young minds. Furthermore, challenging work placements push students to expand their boundaries, overcome obstacles, and strive to reach their potential. These experiences not only bolster students’ confidence but also foster resilience and adaptability — qualities essential for success in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

"Just as important as providing students new skills and work experience, P-TECH offers opportunities to develop and engage our employees and to build partnerships with customers, partners and local communities".
