Egis

Egis is a leading global consulting, construction engineering, and operating firm. With operations in over 100 countries, its 19,500 employees work hand-in-hand with clients across every aspect of transport and the built environment to build a more balanced, sustainable, and resilient world.

From motorways to tramways, water and wastewater treatment to smart cities, Egis collaborates with clients to solve their most complex challenges and deliver climate-responsible growth that meets the needs of communities, industry, and the planet.

Egis has been active in Ireland since 1959, with over 600 staff across 16 offices and sites. The organisation’s services span the full engineering value chain, from upstream feasibility studies, through project design, planning, and construction supervision to ongoing asset management and operations. Egis operates and maintains over 470 km of Ireland’s motorways, bridges, and tunnels, including the Dublin Tunnel and Jack Lynch Tunnel. Its engineers are behind some of Ireland’s iconic infrastructure. Current projects include preliminary design and planning for the Finglas Luas extension; design and project management of the €500M Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade; and the NM20 Cork to Limerick multi-modal corridor design.

“Egis is committed to enabling Ireland’s sustainable economic development and responding to the requirements of population growth while addressing climate change and reducing carbon emissions – through our own operations, and our services for our clients. We report annually on the percentage of turnover derived from projects which are eco-designed; our target for 2025 is 75% and we will achieve 100% by 2030. Right across the group we’re reducing our emissions with the commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050. We’re acutely aware of the role we as engineers and operators play in the decarbonisation of infrastructure, while also enabling equitable economic growth. This partnership with Business in the Community Ireland will allow us to connect with like-minded businesses to achieve a systemic approach to what is a system-wide global challenge.”
